When shopping for a used vehicle, make sure you are aware of the difference between a pre-owned vehicle and a certified pre-owned vehicle.  Just because that Honda you found at a Honda dealership is priced higher than the Honda you found at the Dodge dealership does not mean it's a "bad" deal.  The Certified Pre-Owned models are exclusive to the make of the vehicle's manufacturer standards in which the local franchise dealer must abide by.  These vehicle carry a much higher value due to many benefits.  Below is why you may pay more for a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle and will often come out saving big in the long run.

  • Only Vehicles in the Best Condition Qualify.  Only late-model, low-mileage vehicles with approved vehicle history reports including Carfax and Autocheck are accepted into Certified Pre-Owned programs sponsored by auto manufacturers.  If a vehicle does not meet specific criteria, which varies depending on the automaker, it cannot become a "CPO" vehicle.

  • Multi-point Inspection and Reconditioning Process.  The are on average over 150 things that a dealer will examine and replace if necessary to meet the required standards set by the manufacturer.  The Kansas City dealers will have this documented and signed by the technician who performed the inspection.  Do not purchase any pre-owned vehicle until you get to review their reconditioning records.

  • Extended Warranty Protection  All Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle programs extend the original powertrain warranty on a Certified Pre-Owed Vehicle.  This is great benefit due to powertrain repairs are some of the vehicle's most expensive.  Some programs will have this as an option and can be activated with an activation fee.

  • Low Interest Financing  Most Certified Pre-Owned Vehicles will often qualify for lower finance rates that can be just as competitive as new car interest rates.  Manufacturer's rates vary and see your local Kansas City Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle Retailer for details.
